Full moon? kayaking

The Plan
Go on an "Adventure cruise" down the Waikato River, with the magnificent glow of a full moon accompanied by glistening stars. The imagination equated that to a shimmering silver path leading straight to the golden glow of the city. How hard could it be? Having no kayaking experience, and doing it in the dark was bound to be a small challenge.

The Execution
I arrived at the pick-up point with all my nerves and loads of enthusiasm.
Scott had even arranged funky music to be heard from across the river specifically for us. As we made our way out to the Narrows, Scott quietly assured us his Kayaks were the steadiest available. On arrival the trailer was emptied, safety gear stowed on boats and people, then it was briefing time. All very well done, simple concise, easy to follow, how could I possibly get anything wrong.

But if you're asking, you probably know there is definitely more than one right or is that left. And yes you really do need to work this out as no, the river is not straight, and you're not allowed to blame the whirl pools all the time.

Did I mention that it started raining as soon as we got out of the car.
One by one we all decided the only thing we really lacked was a cap, to keep those silver droplets out of our eyes.

We stopped for refreshments, under the Silver Dollar tree just on the edge of town, they were divine. The service was superb, the homemade baking impeccable, I could rave on and on and on. Frankly, Dee and Scott could give restaurants in town pointers, it was very easy to appreciate the really good service that they provided and they managed this in the rain.

The final leg of the trip was very pretty with all the parties on the river, the lights of the CBD and the silhouettes of the large homesteads along the banks.

Although those silver droplets didn't really stop until we were tucked up in bed, it was still one of the best ways to spend an evening, good humour, good fun and always the hope that there might be one glimpse of the moon.
Oh well, we'll just have to do it again.

Great opportunity
Thanks !!!
